The boards of directors of Centerstone of America, Centerstone of Indiana and Dunn Center, recognized leaders in the not-for-profit behavioral healthcare industry, have unanimously approved the proposed affiliation of Centerstone of Indiana and Dunn Center. The two organizations are integrating their operations and will begin operating under the Centerstone name on September 1, 2009. The new Centerstone of Indiana will serve more than 24,000 individuals in central and southern Indiana seeking treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues.

Williams, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Centerstone of Indiana. 'As one company, we will be able to share best practices and combine our resources and expertise to provide even better services to our clients. This affiliation will allow us not only to offer the best possible care, but to create new, specialized programs to meet the needs of more individuals of all ages and families in our communities.'
Headquartered in Columbus, the new Centerstone of Indiana organization will offer a range of mental health and substance abuse services to people of all ages. The organization will employ nearly 900 staff members in 62 locations in 17 counties throughout central and southern Indiana. Centerstone of Indiana also will operate the Foster Care Select program in 24 Indiana counties. The combined company will have approximately $51 million in annual revenues.
'This affiliation gives Centerstone and Dunn Center a stronger voice in Indiana and nationally as we work together to improve the lives of the individuals and families we serve,' said Kay Whittington, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Dunn Center. 'By joining forces, we will have an expanded knowledge base that will drive our research-based programs and services. We also will have additional philanthropic potential that will allow us to build more private funding to increase our capacity to meet the needs of our clients and communities.'
Centerstone of Indiana and the Dunn Center are long-standing members of the behavioral health community in Indiana. Centerstone has been serving Indiana residents for more than 50 years. Established in 2008 through the merger of the Center for Behavioral Health and Quinco Behavioral Health Systems, Centerstone of Indiana serves more than 18,000 individuals each year at 46 locations in 11 South Central Indiana counties: Bartholomew, Brown, Clark, Decatur, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Lawrence, Morgan, Monroe and Owen. The organization provides an array of mental health and addiction services including outpatient counseling, walk-in crisis services, psychiatric evaluations, as well as more specialized programs such as child and family services, alcohol and drug treatment, employee assistance program services, integrated care, case management, group therapy, and residential services (see also Mental Health).
For 50 years, the Dunn Center has offered specialized behavioral health services in assessment and diagnosis, medication management, residential services, recovery from serious mental illness, addictions, and substance abuse, as well as innovative approaches to children's needs. The organization serves approximately 6,000 residents annually and operates facilities in seven Indiana counties: Fayette, Henry, Monroe, Randolph, Rush, Union and Wayne.
Following the merger, Dr. Williams will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Centerstone of Indiana and be based in Columbus, Ind. Dr. Whittington, who is based in Richmond, Ind., will assume the role of Chief Implementation Officer for the combined company.
